Spring fishing has begun!! Water temps are still pretty low for beach snook but we have had some reports of fish already staging up in the pass. This means it wont be long before they start heading down the beaches!! We had word yesterday of an abundance of bait and Spanish mackerel popping up in north Sarasota Bay. These numbers should increase in the upcoming weeks! Wire leaders are recommended for the king mackerel which should shortly follow. Bait should start showing up in better numbers off of the beach, although offshore action has been great this past week. Red grouper and amberjacks have been abundant at about 50 miles. There have also been about 4 sailfish caught within 50 mi in the last few days. These ranging from 40-80lbs and from Sarasota to Naples. Cobia have also been consistently reported this past week. Ranging everywhere from the beaches to 80 mi. offshore. There are still some solid triple tail on the traps so take advantage of those opportunities! Plenty of sheep head for the taking along with some really nice pompano around the passes and off of the beach. Inshore action remains hot with some 30-40″ snook being reported in the canals and some decent redfish on the flats as well. Now is the time to gear up for tarpon!! Many anglers are already building rod and reel combos to prepare for battle with the silver king. Many captains are booking up quickly so do not hesitate if you are interested! We have numerous guides that we can highly recommend. We are here for your questions and would love to help you build the best possible setup, for any fish!
